Kennels

So today was my first day at the kennels and it went amazing. I walked a fat lab and got shown around the kennels. I spoke with my boss her name is nancy and I spoke with my co workers Jennifer and someone else lol. It was fun. I helped so many dogs. It was nice. I'm going again tomorrow. I'm excited.

Dog training.

So I went to a dog training class and it was fantastic to shadow Sheila. Real professionalism and hard work done. Was interning to see all te dogs and for once in my life with work/job (even though it's not a job just don't know how to word it) I felt at home and comfortable. It looked good and I was in my deph. I think I impressed about my knowledge and I'm welcomed back and will go again on 7th of April. It's been a great day. My session with Heidi got canceled but guess what Kim got into college! She's studying pyhscology! Go Kim! Roll on Monday with the kennels! Can't wait! 

My Football team.

So I live in a place Called Irvine, which is located west of Scotland, near the west coast, kinda near Ireland so to speak. and the football teams they support here are mainly a team called Rangers, others support a team called Celtic, and a few Ayr United and Kilmarnock fc.

I used to like Rangers as a boy but there fans sing about killing catholics and bring religion into the game Celtic sing about killing british people and protestants and about the IRA.

But... I come from Edinburgh and i am not giving up on my football team, my football team is

Hibernian Football Club, Hibernian is the latin name for Ireland, which the team was created because in the 1800s many irish people were in Scotland due to the famine in ireland and they were treared like horse shit for being, well Irish... so few people from the church created a team called Hibernian, we used to sing about the IRA and killing british people same as celtic up untill the 1920's , we stopped out from that and well we don't bring religion into the football game because it is Stupid.

Probably most on here viewing my blog won't like football, that's how life is, but i want you to view this video, to get a feel for what i feel. it's not a boring out football video, the video is actually based on where the team come from a place called Leith in Edinburgh and Leith, Leith is a beautiful part of Edinburgh, enjoy.

Dog training, career wise.

So about two days ago, me and kimmi had an idea. In order to sit these courses, these wonderful dog training courses i need experiance. wait let me start from the begining,

Now not many people know this but you need NO training to become a dog trainer, yep. Anyone can open up a shop and claim to be a dog trainer with fake reviews, fake experience and worrying enough fake qualifications to become a dog trainer. so i thought, hey i want to get the right experience because if i don't i could do more damage then good.

So, my news is, i have the right to shadow a local dog trainer with qualifications in dog training, i called her up and we spoke a little bit about dogs, and what we felt about dog training and we were singing from the same sheet basically, so on Thursday night i will be attending a dog training class to spectate on how she trains puppy's.

the news does not end there. i actually called a lot of dog kennels in the area as-well and i said the following " Hi my name is Steven Perry, I was enquiring about any volunteering positions you may have available, i want to become a dog trainer but know anyone can be, but want to gain the right enough experiance to sit my courses and what not" most said no due to the fact if i take anything the said person done the wrong way and applied them myself he/she could be responsible.....

which is bull crap they just don't want me getting a free lesson even though Jack wouldn't be there.

so on Monday

i have an interview with a dog kennels and i am looking to volunteer,

also a friend of mine mentioned her brother is looking to train dogs with the police and the police are open for people to come along and attend a course, so i am looking at this too.

so i get to attend dog training classes to take notes and observe this woman in person and i might have a volunteering job cleaning out kennels and walking dogs. i am really excited i really am.

right now my confidence is not very high with dogs so this can only be a good thing, but the key thing is not to show fearfulness in front of the dogs. because if they pick up on that, it could cause lasting damage to said dog. but i know a bit about dog body language and when and when not to approach a dog when it is giving off warning signals, dogs do not just snap. and will give off warning signals to the human. it's all about building trust.

Making choices.

So Today was a bit of a down, my football team lost :( but meh, that's life. !

Right now i am reading the intro to the KCAI scheme, it is pretty interesting, but i can't constrait

We got the internet, finally! and it is good because i can start studying now:)

Good news too, Kimmi got an interview with college, so she is looking forward to that, she is a bit nervous but i am sure she will ace it

we bought a go chef and a corner couch... still need a wardrobe, but right now i'm on break from reading:)

Just a bit nervous about my dog training, want to do well, and well i want to leave my marque on Scotland. You see you have a lot of old school dog trainers that believe, hitting, screaming, and pulling a metal spiked collar is the way to make a dog learn

when in fact, my personal beleaf is to let the dog make the choices and reward. i will post a video up soon  after to this and anyone who has a dog, i urge you to please, PLEASE watch this, to give your dog a chance to learn

New beginnings.

Sp as you know we have moved into a home! And we still have a lot f work today. The house is unfurnished so we are still to get things like a tv lol here it is so far.....

Lots of work as I said. We have just got a corner couch and expecting it to be delivered next week and the curren couch we got will be in attic, kinda like a movie room since it's converted. We have kimmis two gay friends to help design the decorations and everyone knows gay men are the best at decorating ad fashion!

Moved

So yesterday me and Kimmi legally moved to Irvine.

We have spent three years at barns street and what a three years. The first year we spent in the too flat 10c and then after one year we spent a year in 10b in the middle flat and then we moved back up to the top flat

We have saw friends come and go, we introduced our two pet rats to the house and our dog Jack....

We watched ex neighbours trash our old house and backstab us.... Hell we even had people buzz us thinking we were the hotel across the road and me abusing them at four in the morning....

By the way my old house was the very top windows on roof ( left living room, (right bedroom and middle guest room,

I was laying in bed this morning and noticed how fu king white the room is

KCAI scheme.

So basically I got this email a few months back. After searching online and speaking to a friend martcin, he's my landlords handyman and also a dog trainer (believes in domminance (I don't) ) so I asked him where should I start? He told me

Contact the kennel club, join a kennel club. So I contacted a Mexican dog trainer in Edinburgh (who is a wanker by the way) I asked him if I could shadow him and would even volenteer to help him with the dogs, he texts back yeah sure okay.

I then call him and he laughed saying no way, I won't help you, why would I? 

Being a real arsehole, so I got angry after the call and was determand to make this work, I felt heartbroken... But I didn't wan to give this up

I contacted the British kennel club, explained the mexifag wanted twenty thousand pounds from me (yeah right LOL) they laughed and explained about the kcai course my heart shot up, flew and eyes widened. So they sent me an email and the email said ....

My name is Clare H******* and I am the first port of call for the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour. (KCAI). 

The KCAI Scheme is looking to raise national standards of dog training and canine behaviour in the UK.  It is mainly self-study although all members are looked after by a Regional Mentor and we also offer educational opportunities.  All of your knowledge and experience, whether it be hands on training experience, academic knowledge, ‘real-life’ experience with your own dogs and anything gained from simply having an interest, counts towards your final accreditation.

The scheme is modular and covers 3 different key areas: ‘What you Know, What you Do and How you Teach.   Once you have worked your way through the modules and can evidence the required level of knowledge and experience (all quantified through a points system), you would be eligible for a practical and oral assessment (minimum 5 years instructing experience required for assessment.)

City & Guilds NPTC, the biggest awarding body in the UK for vocational awards has now formally endorsed the KCAI Scheme, and awarded Centre Approval for the Kennel Club, offering the national qualification the ‘Kennel Club National Quality Award for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour’.   This means that for the first time in the UK, instructors involved in teaching dog training and advising on canine behaviour will have the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised, credible and externally verified qualification. Dog owners and dog training enthusiasts will also benefit by having the reassurance of a national standard to ensure that they are provided with the best quality advice and service. This is awarded upon gaining the Kennel Club Accreditation.
